Review: The Vast Of Night
The Vast Of Night moves at such a sluggish pace, you might not notice some of the sensational events happening in the story. Set in 1950s New Mexico, a young switchboard operator is baffled when she starts to hear strange noises that she hears on the radio frequency she’s listening to. The film centers on the two teens who investigate the noise and uncover more than they bargained for.
The deliberate clip that the film moves at is inspired and the eerie quality of the mise-en-scene is impressive enough, but ultimately the whole movie seems to be building up to a climactic ending that never quite delivers.
